Winter the Dolphin

Winter was born around October 10th, 2005. When she was still a calf, she was found on a beach in Florida, with her tail caught in a crab trap. The lack of blood flow to her tail resulted in the loss of her tail. Eventually a prosthetic tail was made for her. She lives at the Clearwater Marine Hospital in Florida, where she's a hugely popular attraction. She now does so well she no longer needs her prosthesis. I find her to be a very strong, determined, brave individual, even though she's not human. The 2011 film, Dolphin Tale, and the book Winter's Tail by Craig Hatkoff, are about her. Winter played herself in the film.
