Oh, now I am confused… If there is a sound, then it won't be silent anymore. But I will say that walking on autumn leaves is a cool sound, even if it is a sound.
The freshness of autumn consumed all my senses. I could fell goose bumps rise, as the chilled air rushed along my skin. The forecast had said 75 that morning but I knew at once, that was untrue; never trust a weather man I thought to myself. The still green leaves on the trees seemed to dance with the wind, swaying back and forth. The leaves that had fallen early scratched against each other as I kicked them childishly; I was so excited for fall I could even smell autumn. ‘Does autumn have a smell?’, I questioned myself; it must, its just indescribable at the moment.
"crunch crunch crunch" woud have worked as well gb, never be ashambed because of something I wrote previously, but thank you both for the compliment :)
It's just that I saw you had written crunch, crunch, crunch, and then you come up with that touching and poignant description of the coming season… you just gave a good example of how one person can show different extremes in comment leaving… I'm not ashamed, I was just trying to make a point.
"All the leaves are brown (...all the leaves are brown) and the sky is grey (...the sky is grey)".
Even though California Dreamin' tells about "a winter day", I once sang this song as I was walking on the brown leaves (and also kicking them, of course) on November, a year ago, as far as I remember. In my country this experience is not very common, and that's why I really enjoyed that evening.
(And it was my birthday!) It was awesome. Fall is my favorite season.
Yes, it was written by John Phillips, as far as I know. I remember pleasantly the way that Cass Elliot used to dance. And her voice, of course: what a terrific voice, man.
