Vivi Ornitier first appears at the beginning of the game, watching Zidane’s airship coming to land in Alexandria. Being a Black Mage, he shares many similarities with normal humans but also has differences that include a black aura around his outer skin, glowing yellow eyes, and the ability to cast magic. Despite being just nine years old, Vivi is incredibly powerful and intelligent for his age. With some encouragement from Adelbert Steiner, he joins Zidane and others and begins to learn of his true existence.
