The film tells the story of a highly-gifted boy whose parents have demanding and ambitious plans for him - they want him to become a pianist. However, one day the boy, Vitus, is no longer willing to comply with his parents' plans and ambitions because he wants to follow his own star.

This movie just makes me lose interests of all other movies, while beating The Lord of the Rings, which was my all-time favorite movie but not anymore. This movie is fascinating! I just don't understand why people don't want to watch this kind of movie? Hollywood movies are pretty much garbages comparing to it.

Mielikki, I agreed on your opinion for the Hollywood movies. They are full of violence and sex, and the Hollywood industry is trying to sell those to the rest of the world. Globalization does not equal to Americanization. I think we should to resist the American-Hollywood influence.
you should also watch Bread and Tulips (with Ganz) and Everything is Illuminated, if you liked this kind of film.
