"U" is the first official CD single by Super Junior. The single topped CD sales charts during the first several weeks after its release on June 7, 2006 2. U peaked at number one on the MIAK K-pop album charts and sold 91,416 copies by 2008.3. U has since been Super Junior's most successful single. Promotional performances for the title song, "U", did not complete until September 2006. The last general performance for the song was on August 2007 in Japan.

Prior to the release of "U", a digital single of "U" was available for download on May 25, 2006. The second single, "Endless Moment", was available on May 29, 2006. "U" exceeded 1.7 million downloads.

Three more EPs were released after the debut single in 2007. A Chinese version of the song, "U", was released in the special Taiwan edition on June 15, 2007. It is said that the Chinese version was produced to further launch their efforts in advancing to the Chinese market.
