Tom Bombadil

Tom is a character present only in the first volume of Lord of The rings, and is the most powerfull creature of the three books. It’s becouse Tom is the only creature on entire Middle Earth that is unnaffected by the One Ring. He can see frodo even when he is using the One ring. In Valfenda it was suggested that the ring could be given to Tom to keep it safe from Sauron’s hands, but the idea was rejected. Tom is an enigma, created by Tolkien to never being explained. Several essays were done about his origins and true identity.

Is Tom Bombadil the God-Vala Aule? of is he a (lesser) Maia? but if he is a Maia, how can he be resistent to the ring. Or maybe he just can’t be classified… he may be nature force. Or even Iluvatar incarnated. We will never know for sure… Can forgive Steve by keeping such a nice character, the best of tolkien’s riddles, out of the movie…
