The Music Genome Project

An effort to categorize vast libraries of songs by their specific musical properties rather than by muddy genres and artist posturing. Heavens! The project is better known as the engine that powers Pandora, but Pandora perhaps falls short of that potential, as it doesn’t really let you under the hood to customize the music recommendation process. Still, props for taking the first step toward classifying popular music using music theory concepts rather than cult-of-personality commercial artifacts. Science be praised.
