The Memoirs of Cleopatra (Margaret George)

"You can almost taste the sand"were the words of one reviewer who,in fairness, had backpacked around Egypt and had certainly had opportunity to do this themselves.
I myself was amazed that such a large book should take so short a time to read.Margaret George researches her books very well. Her 'Cleopatra' emerges from the printed page as a clever, likeable person.I feel that I have somehow 'met' Julius Caesar and Mark Antony-but am well reassured that it would not do to have been involved with either.
The last thought on my mind is-'Where is her tomb?'It had two important persons in it-both the Queen of Egypt and her lover. It was right in the middle of Alexandria-someone must have seen it being removed or spirited away.I also wonder whether any of her children survived her. There is a chance that some did.The whole thing leaves you pondering...
Photographs are of the author in Egypt with her father when young and later,as an adult, researching her book on Cleopatras life.
