Yes it's an American show – I'm not sure what channel it's aired on in the states – I've bought the series on DVD (Seasons 1 and 2) so far

It's on American TV on Showtime, which is a premium channel. It's my favorite show to watch! I love all of the characters, but especially Shane, played by Katherine Moennig.
