In “Scrubs” he was originally part of the secondary cast and only ever spoke to one character (with the idea that if the show failed, they could reveal the whole scenario only ever occurred in that character’s head anyway). However, his popularity soon rose and he was added to the main cast in the second season. Despite not actually becoming the main character, his rise from simply a fallback crutch, to a main respected character, is a good example of a breakout character. The only episode that the Janitor does not appear in is Episode 2.9, My Lucky Day.

“You look unhappy. I like that.”

“Knife-wrench. For kids!”
I keep having dreams that I am Elliot and I hook up with the Janitor in the ward that Dr. Kelso shut down and he walks in and gets pissed off that we are there and we try to play it off like we were cleaning.
Yup, a real breakout character! :)
The guy who plays the janitor (sorry i can’t remember his name), never reads the script before filming. He just turns up and improvises. He’s damn good at it. All those fantastic lines.
Plus: He wasn’t even meant to be a regular character on the show. He was just so hilarious in the first episode they wanted to keep him. Hehe. You learn a lot watching the extra material.

He’s definitely my favourite Scrubs character. He’s an “enemy” to J.D but his methods are completely different to Dr Cox approach, and the childish pranks just make him all the funnier.
Didn’t know the character history either- thanks guys!
