The DHARMA Initiative, or, Department of Heuristics And Research on Material Applications was founded by researchers Karen and Gerald de Groot in 1970. The corporation is funded entirely by The Hanso Foundation.
As the name suggests, The DHARMA Initiative is an outlet of research in many various and radically different disciplines, including meteorology, zoology, electro-magnetism and psychology, among others. More recently, the Initiative has set out to alter The Valenzetti Equation.
