This film is fantastic! I LUV IT !
One OSCAR , 2 OSCARS , 3 OSCARS …......!!!!!!
Nicholson rocks! Best performance by Leo…
I hear they are making a second one, but with Mark Wahlberg as the main actor.
Well the original Hong Kong film is a trilogy, so it wouldn’t surprise me if they made a Hollywood sequel. The second Infernal Affairs film was a prequel about the two main characters when they first join the police force/triads.
I only saw this finally a few days ago as I’m a big fan of Infernal Affairs and I tend to avoid films with Leo in them. Dicaprio’s performance was fantastically gritty and has completely changed my opinion on the guy’s acting skills.
Way to go, Luke!
Actually in the beginning I wasn’t much of a Leo fan either, but the guy has some serious acting chops. Props to the whole cast and crew.
I have to agree with Luke too, I wasnt really a fan of Leo at all, but now his acting skills have greatly improved. I like Blood Diamond and The Departed. I was just pissed that Matt was a bad guy in the film haha. It’s funny how some movies can upset people for no reason….I get too into it.
As I put in the Infernal Affairs page: The Departed was such a letdown. I had been so excited for it, with the caliber of everyone involved. I knew the original Hong Kong movie Infernal Affairs would be tough to beat but I still expected to at least enjoy it. All the parts that were directly lifted off of Infernal Affairs were either disappointing or misused. You can't possibly argue that it's not an impressively well-made movie but it feels completely soulless. The whole point of the first movie, the deeper meaning and the emotional connection between the characters was painfully absent.
I can only assume that we're not supposed to like any of the Departed characters but it would have been nice to feel some sympathy for at least one of them. While I loved everyone in Infernal Affairs only Mark Wahlberg got my attention, but only because he was amusing. They also tried too hard to gain sympathy for Martin Sheen's Queenan. But I can say that if I hadn't seen the original I'd probably be pretty impressed.
