AXN has launched an reality-TV action show 'Pirate Master', which promises to be an epic reality television series like no other, with 16 brave modern-day folks living pirate-style and embarking on extraordinary expeditions to unearth hidden treasure.
The show premieres on July 11 in the 10 pm (IST) slot. The life of a pirate will be as 'real' as it gets amidst the intense action and surprises, and will have you hooked on the series almost instantly.
Pirate Master features an irresistible mix of intrigue, adventure and the thrill of treasure hunting. Elaborate costumes and an authentic replica of a pirate's ship create a feast for the senses. Re-enacting the great pirate era of the Caribbean islands during the 1560s, contestants will find themselves living in squalid conditions, having to deal with an authoritarian captain and even mutiny for 33 days.
The aim of the game is to unlock the infamous Chest of Zanzibar, the legendary treasure of pirate captain Henry Steel. Inside the chest are 15 locked compartments, each containing maps and clues to find each of these stashes. Each week, three contestants will have the authority of the ship's Captain and Officers, in charge of the entire gang of pirates. At the start of each treasure hunt, the contestants will be divided into two opposing crews, to go on expeditions and to find hidden gold coins. Tenacity and deceit will be rampant, as sabotage will be allowed. At the end of the day, both teams will be rejoined as one single crew. Any animosity leftover from the competition must quickly be resolved, or the pirates face the possibility of being cut adrift.
