Here's a question: given the following choices reguarding the ability to both broadcast your thoughts, and read the thoughts, feelings and memories of other people, whether they would want you to or not, which would you choose?
1. Everybody can do it. 2. Only you and one other person of your choice can do it. 3. Only you can do it. 4. Nobody can do it.
An unrestricted internet creates a free-flow of poorly controlled information, the likes of which have never before been seen. To some, the internet is chaos compared to how it was pre-web. To most, however, it represents more freedom. Universal telepathy would be even more beneficial. Why are we so afraid of unrestricted information? Why do you two insist that information is best reserved for a few powerful elites? I welcome its release, and even hope for it.
Your use of the internet is a good example, the free-flow of ideas has been beneficial in a lot of ways, however in your question you added “whether they would want you to or not” which in my opinion has nothing in common with the internet, everything on here is by choice of the individual, and most of it is open to interpretation.
Oh, but surely you can't ignore unlicensed, copyrighted information which is constantly exchanged freely throughout the internet, against the will of its authors. Or how about various critiques and opinions of damn near everything you can think of? If you could read anyone's mind, you would get the same stuff, and more, only unlike with the internet, you would always get the truth, or at least a person's true opinion over the truth. Personally, I can't rationalize nominating myself as someone who should have the power to read anyone's mind, but at the same time, being completely against allowing that ability in other people.
Hey guys... Internet?? All I meant was that I would not want people to be able to know what I was thinking, hey, sometimes I don't want to know what I am thinking. I just felt like mentioning that. I do understand where you are going with this though, good on ya!
According to the experts, that's not necessarily the case. They say every memory you have is somehow recorded in or around your body, and the only thing a person needs to read it from across the room or across the country is meditative practice. You can supposedly learn to read the minds of humans, animals, and maybe even plants. I think that if you can't find a friend to practice with you, then the next best option is to practice on your pet, and other animals you come across.
Yeah, one morning, after a night of attempting to send and receive thought messages to my dog, I woke up next to him, to the loud sound of my name being called to me in a child-like voice. The sound was definately mental, but it was much louder than any internal dialogue I had experienced in a long time. I'm not convinced it was my dog, but it is interesting that it would happen at that specific time, given my recent efforts in telepathy.

I'm torn between 3 & 4…
Number 3. Since you asked.
Well, 1 is my choice.
1? That would be chaos...
No. That would be equality.
Equality… then chaos.
Well, you're both wrong; it would go:
1) Equality
2) Complete and utter horror at the realization of what you have just unleashed.
3) Chaos
And finally, 4) Peace, Balance, and Stability.
