Sits in dictionary corner on Countdown. I don't mind that Carol gets all the attention; that just leaves more Susie for me.

I often wonder whether the Vord at the Board knows the multiplication tables rather better than she lets on.
That aside, Susie is just right for the show.
A minor claim is that I watched the very first show back in... 1984? Ah, I was young, carefree and stupid, then.
Nothing much has changed.
By the way - I commented in Ginger_Bear's profile yesterday and was able to link; today I try to do the same thing and couldn't. Damnably frustrating!
Carol has a degree in Maths from Cambs/Oxford and does them live with no help. Susie and the guest get the words given to them (as was admitted by producers). Dont have a preference really.
I'm not surprised at that, flicking through a dictionary to get all those words in 30 seconds would be asking alot! I guess back in '84 (it was the first programme on Channel 4, if I remember correctly) they didn't have any computers to help, but now it's understandable.
It was the opening programme. I clearly remember watching C4's opening fanfare. Then the much-missed Richard Whiteley opened the first show. Some TV critic commented that if the channel were to succeed, they'd have to find programmes better than Countdown.
Ah, the art of getting it completely wrong... it's a rare thing.
But what a fine art it is! Didn't one of Einstein's schoolmasters tell him he'd never amount to much?
There's hope for me yet...
Tchaikovsky's diary (in translation, naturally):
"Played over some music by that scoundrel Brahms. What a giftless bastard! Why, compared to him, Raff is a genius."
Wow. It says she's an author. And it's off to Amazon I go...
Thanks for the link!
