Streets of Rage

Streets of Rage (originally Bare Knuckle in Japan) was a side-scrolling beat-em-up series of videogames released for the Sega Genesis/Mega Drive. The game deviated from more conventional beat-ups by allowing you to fight a range of opponents as you made your way through the levels and enviroments, but still retaining many of the staples of the genre, including combos and special moves.

The trilogy was only ever released during the 16bit era, with fans remaining ever hopeful for a next-generation remake or game in the series, though nothing has been released as of yet. More recently the first two games in the series however have made their way onto the Nintendo Virtual Console available to download, while the second title in the series is available to purchase on Xbox Live Arcade.
