The first “Strangers With Candy” episode, titled Old Habits, New Beginnings, aired on Comedy Central in 1999. It was cancelled in 2000 after nearly two years of hilarious episodes. The show chronicled the life of Jerri Blank (played by Amy Sedaris), a 46 year-old “boozer, user and loser” who returned to high school in order to pick up her life where she left off after running away at the age of 14. It also starred Stephen Colbert, Paul Dinello, Greg Hollimon and Deborah Rush as Jerri’s equally screwed up peers. During it’s run such stars as Andy Richter, Will Ferrell, Tim Meadows, Winona Ryder, Paul Rudd, and David Cross created even more hilarity with their guest appearances. In 2005, creators Amy Sedaris, Stephen Colbert and Paul Dinello returned to write the script for the film version of “Strangers With Candy”, which was released in July 2006.
