Subversive, surreal, lightning-fast and unlike anything else, Stella’s briefly-aired Comedy Central series was both dazzingly smart and wildy immature, a delicious cocktail of high and low brow which was surprising from second to second.
Anyone who has any interest in modern comedy should witness Stella. The series, sadly cancelled after just one season, deserved to be seen by more than the handful who caught it during it’s six-month run in the US. It always seemed too good to last in the mainstream, but it’s a shame it never had time to find more than a fraction of the small, discerning audience it was made for. If you’re in a market where you can get the DVD , you should.
