Standing up for Your Beliefs

I am all for doing this,in theory,but a also value diplomacy and the art of reaching a fair compromise.Many relationships would not survive without people being able to do this.

Tribble, I'm a bit confused – do you think standing up for your beliefs and compromise have to be mutually exclusive?  I don't feel that way at all! I think that it's perfectly possible to have your own beliefs heard while at the same time respecting other people's right to have their own opinions as well. I mean, it's not like you can possibly expect everyone to share the exact same set of beliefs - so if they differ (and everyone's do!) you think they shouldn't be expressed?

It is not easy.

It is a real challenge daw.

we all were created each uniquely. ppl are diff. from each other. i believe it diminishes our identity when we just follow others instead of standing up to ourbeliefs, if we did that its like sayin that our thoughts n beliefs are not as important as their's i'm not sayin that we shudn't take other's, but Many times we are taught things and because those things are taught to us we never question them, we merely believe them. We all have minds of our own and we should be proud of ourselves to come up with our own ideas.

And Tribble - I understand what you mean. :-) Thankfully, though, some of us do grow out of that stage, though maybe not as many as it should be!

well i'm strugglin with that almost my entire life since i was young till now.

its a big issue for me cuz i'v ben livin in a country that doesnt give you the rgt to be as who u are or say wat u think n just follow the stupid rules they force u to follow even if it wasn't fair for u or the others. n i don't like that feelin n thats why i left there even daw my whole family lives in there but yet i cudn't stand it not to be allowed to say or do wat i want as long as i'm not sayin or hurtin anyone gosh u can't even open ur mouth about things that suppose to be a normal things in other countries if u did hehe u'll be in jail the next mornin hun.

ok let me give an example, gay ppl, from where i used to live if they cought tow ppl from the same sex kissin or(..) THEY GET KILLED OR HANGED BY THE COUNTRY'S LAW. did u get wat i mean. = /

i beleive that everyone has the rgt to live his/her life the way they choose as long as its not effectin or hurtin other ppl n i meant on the personal matter if u got wat i mean.

   it sometimes is easy to mock some ppl who put themselves on the line for the causes they believe in. But, i think if the cause that person is fighting for is so important to them that they is willing to make a a good change in personal jabs, then they realy shud be proud of them selves cuz they din't just exept for their minds to be shut off.

they won't kill em for just akiss ofcourse, But if they were cought in (....) u know there is a sert. punishment in their religious book that they follow which is killin em both, OR they got hanged or killed by the hand of haters in that city. = (

even for the opposite sex if a man or a woman cought togther in (....) n they weren't married, they face death penalty.

= ( do u believe that its totaly unfair n horrible.

I def stand up for my beliefs and i am only 24 but i have always stood up for what i thought was right even from a young age yes i got into many fights for sticking to my guns but our beliefs is the one thing people cant take from us they can try to shed new light and let us see a different point of view but its our choice to believe it.. i am in agreement Ty' its stupid how people are stuck in the old age we are the new generation we need to correct old peoples thoughts and i am in agreement you should do whatever you feel is right even if i dont understand it but i do understand being true to oneself i feel sorry for the people that have to lie with who they are in fear of the punishment but then again i am the type i understand i will die one day but i am never not going to stand up for myself and my beliefs, but i know of many countires that stone girls and guys for the simple of crimes that here in my country america we def take for granted just glad you got out of that country
