Spider-Man Vs. Lizard at School

In this scene from the Amazing Spider-Man, Dr. Connors, in his lizard form, has just found out that Peter Parker is also Spider-Man, and attacks him at school, of all places.

Peter, before he bravely runs toward the danger rather than away from it, tells Gwen to evacuate the school with everyone else. He nods to her that he'll be alright, but because she loves him, she still bravely comes back to intervene. The Lizard, however, has specifically targeted Peter, not Gwen, something both Peter and Gwen are well aware of.

The Lizard tries to convince Peter that he only wants to help people, but Peter knows the doctor's reptilian serum is negatively effecting his mind, and the unmasked Peter tries to make this known to the doctor, even resorting to begging him to stop this. But since the doctor is in his reptilian form, he won't listen, and he only wants to fight. 

It's interesting how this scene establishes that, as Dr. Connors and Peter Parker, the two men are friends, and yet, sadly, as the Lizard and Spider-Man, respectively, they're enemies. The Lizard is played by Rhys Ifans and Spider-Man by Andrew Garfield.
