Sophie Dahl's grandfather was a famous novelist, her grandmother and father were famous actors, and Sophie herself became a hot commodity after a controversial perfume ad. Plus her unique look became the rage when she first hit the scene with a thud in 1996.
Despite her career explosion after the Opium fiasco, Sophie Dahl has not attained major fame status. She has a certain celebrity in Britain, with film and stage work to her credit, in addition to a book, but overall, she is not a star per se.
Dahl does deserve credit for her list of magazine work however, with Vogue (she was on the cover of the November 2007 issue), Elle, Harper's Bazaar, and a Pirelli calendar on her resume. Expect more from Sophie Dahl in the future though, as she explores her talent beyond the fashion world.
