Slash fanfiction, often referred to simply as “slash,” is fan fiction which pairs same-sex (usually male/male) characters or celebrities. It is often erotic or downright pornographic in nature. The “slash” refers to the keyboard character which seperates the characters in the pairings. Slash involving females is often called “femmeslash.” Slash about musicians is especially popular and has been reported on by the BBC .
