This is one of the most believable sci-fi movies I’ve ever seen. The effects aren’t up to today’s standards, but I fear if they did a remake they would lose too much of the heart and soul of this movie. The story line is memorable and impacting, the characters are loveable and captivating. It has stuck with me as a favorite out of so many other sci-fi movies I’ve seen (and love). It does a better job than most of conveying what life in deep space might really be like mixed in with the sad (maddening) reality of corporate and government decision making destroying what we value all for the sake of a profit.
