Siberian Husky

A Siberian Husky is a great choice for anyone looking for an active dog that enjoys people. This dog was bred to pull supply sleds over frozen terrain for many miles. At the end of the day a Husky will provide wonderful companionship to its owner.

The AKC classifies this breed in the Working Group. Like most other members of this breed it is important this job has a job to keep it from getting into trouble. These dogs are quite wolf like and less domesticated than many other breeds. This dog will weigh 35 to 60 pounds and stand 20 to 24 inches tall.

These dogs have a thick coat comprised of two layers. They have prick ears and a wolf like face. The coat comes in a variety of colors with black and white or silver and white being most common. The most striking feature of this animal is its almond shaped blue or brown eyes.

This dog is quite impulsive and can easily get into dangerous situations far more than other breeds. Some Huskies require routine visits to the vet's office to be patched up. This breed is good with older children, but may not be a good choice for families with infants or toddlers. Huskies are aggressive towards cats and other small animals and may not be trustworthy with smaller children.

This breed requires a home with a large fenced yard. It will want to be outside during the colder months as indoor temperatures are uncomfortable. The yard must be securely fenced or the dogs will get out.
