Sakura Wars

Sakura Taisen (Sakura Wars) is one of the most successful media franchises in Japan. There are numerous games, OVAs, TV shows, merchandise and even live performances related to the franchise. 

The series was originally set in a fictional Taisho Era, where the Kouma War begin. A huge demon hellbent on destorying the Imperial Capital was sealed by the Imperial Army's Counter-Demon Team, but their success came at a huge cost. Due to this incident, Imperial Capital Defense Program and the Imperial Assault Force were created. In order to increase the defenses of those who would be enlisted by the new organization to fight against demons, Kanzaki Heavy Industries created spiritual armor powered by steam called Koubu. It is said that only women with high spiritual power could operate this armor. 

The main story began in Japan, where the Imperial Assault Force (Teikoku Kagekidan) and its six divisions formed. The most famous of the divisions is the Flower Division, led by Lt. Junior Grade Ichiro Ogami. The troupe consists of nine members (including Ogami): Vice Captain Maria Tachibana, Sakura Shinguji, Sumire Kanzaki, Iris Chateaubriand, Ri Kohran, Kanna Kirishima, Orihime Soletta, and Reni Milchstraße, both from the disbanded Star Division. Other divisions also help the Hanagumi. 

With the success of the Teikoku Kagekidan, other countries followed; two of these countries were France and USA. France's version is called Groupe Fleur de Paris, headed by Countess Isabella "Grand Mere" Lilac. The team consists of five members: Erica Fontaine, Glycine Bleumer, Coquelicot, Lobelia Carlini, and Hanabi Kitaoji. Ichiro Ogami was captain of the grope for a few months. USA's version is the New York Fighting Troupe, led by Rachet Altair of the original Star Division. She handed the mantle of leadership to Ensign Shinjiro Taiga. Other members include Gemini Sunrise, Sagitta Weinberg, Diana Caprice, Rikaritta Aries, and Subaru Kujou.
