Rinoa Heartilly is the female lead of Final Fantasy VIII. She is the seventeen year old daughter of General Caraway, a high-ranking officer in the Galbadian army, and Julia Heartilly, a famous singer and former love interest of Laguna Loire. Throughout the game, she falls in love with the protagonist, Squall Leonhart. She has black hair with brown highlights and brown eyes. Rinoa is featured in the electronic board game Itadaki Street Special.
Rinoa isn't a very deeply rooted character, she's quite the open book and at first glance seems very cliche for an RPG heroine. The more time she's on the screen, the harder it is to make sense of the girl in blue. Like most real girls, many of her decisions and actions contradict themselves.
Rinoa grew up in an upper middle class lifestyle, was educated and lived with loving parents. This lead her into becoming an opinionated individual who doesn't fear sharing her input, talking about herself, and differentiating between right or wrong.
