Former Cambridge Footlights member Richard Ayoade first came to public attention as the co-writer of Garth Marenghi’s Netherland, which won the Feted Perrier Award at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival in 2001. Since then, he has made numerous noteable cameo appearances in British TV shows such as “Nathan Barley” and “The Mighty Boosh”, and has been the scene-stealing main attraction of Channel 4 UK’s “Garth Marenghi’s Dark Place” and “The IT Crowd”, in which he had more substantial roles.
Not only does Richard have impeccable timing, great writing pedigree and a wonderful gigglesome voice, but, like great British comedians before him such as Lee Evans, Rowan Atkinson, Eric Morecambe, John Cleese, Marty Feldman and Spike Milligan, he also has “funny bones”. If he succeeds in fulfilling his considerable potential, he could be remembered as one of the key names in British comedy.
