She’s Italian?

Finrod
Finrod posted about 1 year ago

Nope. I’m an Englishman, of English parentage. No foreign blood in the family as far as I know. Very pedestrian.

But unlike most English, I don’t shout slowly (in English) at the local population when abroad.

I guessed the furlan to be Rumansch at first. Most English would wonder what the hell I was on about.

I can just imagine: “Rumansch? Is that what they speak in Rumania (sic) ?”

I once considered a job [in England] which included in its description: “Ability to speak European languages eg French, German, Italian, Austrian…”

I carried on reading gleefully, hoping I would find Swiss – but alas, it was not to be!

Dan Quayle (former US vice-president, you may remember) was once reported as saying that he wished he spoke Latin.

So that he could talk to people in Latin America.

But that sort of legend would easily stick to him – because he made George W. look clever.

Ce biel ca l’è el furlan.

biel -> bello, bel

ca -> che, que ??

è -> é, est

el -> il, le

I can’t yet find what the Ce means; translating tiny fragments of languages like this is much harder than longer passages, because if you lose one word you lose a bigger proportion of the sense.

As you probably know!

Right, ce=che. How nice Furlan is. My father was from Friuli!

Sorry, Kazuhiro! I don't speak Portuguese and was guessing from Italian and a smattering of Spanish.

Também me parece que não. :P

inyourpanorama
inyourpanorama posted about 1 year ago

(Foutus adverbes...)

!nês..
!nês.. posted about 1 year ago
