Realizing That Most Modern Vampire Books Are Written by Women

I couldn't help but notice that, at least in modern times, almost all vampire books are written by women. As a matter of fact, the only major vampire book I can think of that's written by a man is, of course, Dracula. The authors included here are Stephenie Meyer, Ellen Schreiber, Laurell K. Hamilton, Richelle Mead, Melissa De La Cruz, Amelia Atwater-Rhodes, L.J. (Lisa Jane) Smith, Rachel Caine, mother-daughter team P.C. (Phyllis Christine) Cast and Kristen Cast, Annette Curtis Klause, Charlaine Harris, and, of course, Anne Rice. Other honorable mentions are Jeaniene Frost, Tanith Lee, Juliet Marillier, Robin McKinley, and Octavia Butler. I think it's rather interesting that almost all vampire novelists in the modern era are women. Why do you think this is so?

Because women think that having a vampire lover is more romantic then having a normal human lover?
