It’s a little bit like the end of a love. Sure, soon a new one will start.

If it’s a great book, despite a good ending, I’m always left thinking too much and wishing for a continuation.

I’m thinking skipping to the last page of a great book. I guess this works too. :D

That happened to me last night…I was sad. It was a really great book.

Aimee

What were you reading? :)

inyourpanorama

It was “The Mother Tongue: English And How It Got That Way” by Bill Bryson. I’m such a linguistics geek. =/

It was so good, I had to share it…I just lent it to my friend Brittany, who’d expressed an interest in it.

Wonderful, especially when you read the last page after you've read all the others, fantastic! Wink
Mielikki
Mielikki posted about 1 year ago

Oh, it's an awesome feeling, except when you know that this is the last book in your house that you have interest in.

dumbbrunette
dumbbrunette posted about 1 year ago

i have to agree with vano that the better the book is the worst this feeling is because i always want the book to continue!

Mister Boomy

Oh god. How am I going to feel when I’ve read the last Harry Potter book? It’s always bittersweet when a Harry Potter book ends, but now, when book 7 is read through, it’s over. Damn.

dumbbrunette
dumbbrunette posted about 1 year ago

Ya that will suck! buti hope its a good ending, thers nothing worse then coming to the end of of agreat book (or series) and readeing the last page n being dissapointted like 'What? thats it!'

Ezanee posted about 1 year ago

I remember how I felt when I finished reading Stephen King's Dark Tower series.. it was sad, knowing how much time and emotion I invested into reading it. But it was a satisfying feeling, just the same.

Some books, leave you plain exhausted. It's the really good authors that know how to say, "Ok, folks, show's over."

Kittilyn
Kittilyn posted about 1 year ago

oh wow.  it's the worst, best feeling in the world, especially if someone dies at the very end.  I read the book "Zink", about a young girl with cancer who supposedly hallucinates due to her medication.  but her halluciantions help her through the entire ordeal of losing her hair, voice, and strength … I cried, actually cried, when she died at the end.  it's probably the most touching death scene in a children's book.  (and yes, I still pick from the 11 – 14 section of the library … :P)

Ezanee
Ezanee posted about 1 year ago

That's perfectly acceptable :)

swissbob
swissbob posted about 1 year ago

It's terrible when you know the autor is dead and this is the last page of the last of his books you read.

hotpinkplaydough
hotpinkplaydough posted about 1 year ago

i like reading te last sentence first then starting the book!

dumbbrunette
dumbbrunette posted about 1 year ago

that ruins the whole story! :P

!nês..
!nês.. posted about 1 year ago

no because most of the times you can't know the end only by reading the last sentence.

nano
nano posted about 1 year ago

You only get really anxious to know the actual ending. I actually did a few times, while in a middle of a book. :D

dumbbrunette
dumbbrunette posted about 1 year ago

no way I cant do it, because its true that when you first read it it doesn't mean anything or make sense but then things sart to click into place and then half way into the book you know whats going to happen and then theres no point to finish

nano
nano posted about 1 year ago

I disagree, my friend. Still, you're intitled to your opinion, obviously. :D

It's just a sentence.  It won't dictate a whole book, nor make me guess it's ending.

dumbbrunette
dumbbrunette posted about 1 year ago

True it is just a sentance I gues I was thinking on a grander scale, like the last page/chapter

nano
nano posted about 1 year ago

Oh no, that I couldn't do. That would ruin all the fun for sure. :D

Kittilyn
Kittilyn posted about 1 year ago

"And that was just as beautiful as he had imagined."

that's the last sentence of the book I'm currently reading.  : D   I couldn't resist, and now I desperately want to know how it fits in with the entire story.

WHAT was just as beautiful as he had imagined??  And I absolutely refuse to read the last page to find out.

nano
nano posted about 1 year ago

Wait and see, Kittilyn, wait and see.

What book are you reading?

Kittilyn
Kittilyn posted about 1 year ago

Time Stops for No Mouse.

A children's book.  Embarassed Fantastic so far nonetheless.   Laughing

nano
nano posted about 1 year ago

I would imagine so. :D You seem such an avid reader.

dumbbrunette
dumbbrunette posted about 1 year ago
I'd never heard of it but it sounds good just from the last sentance! Laughing
Kittilyn
Kittilyn posted about 1 year ago

nano :  yes.  very much so.  : D  books are my television.

nano
nano posted about 1 year ago

Yeah, I've imagined so. That's great. I like reading a lot, but I used to like it better. Well, things change. :D

Kittilyn
Kittilyn posted about 1 year ago

me too … I just don't seem to have the time that I used to.  it's like I'm in some weird time warping area where as you age, things just speed up.  I mean, five minutes was FOREVER when I was little.  : P

nano
nano posted about 1 year ago

You're most certainly sure.

dumbbrunette
dumbbrunette posted about 1 year ago

The whole concept of time changes as we get older it kind of sucks. it would almost be better if we started old and then got younger.

nano
nano posted about 1 year ago

Yes, that's true Steph. I don't want to get older, but I know that it'll happen. =x

dumbbrunette
dumbbrunette posted about 1 year ago

unfortunatly it happens, the trip should be fun I dont doubt it, but it would be fun to stay young forever :)

nano
nano posted about 1 year ago

Yes, but if you stood young forever, how old would you like to be? :D

dumbbrunette
dumbbrunette posted about 1 year ago

Well I'm only 20 now so I dont have much time to base my opinion on but so far I would either stay really young like 7 or 8 before anything really matters and before people really care or I would stay in the begining part of my junior year in highschool, or if I could just relive one day over and over it would be the day/night of my junior prom… :) yep thats my answer haha What about you?

nano
nano posted about 1 year ago

I don't know. Considering I'm only 15 I have no idea. But I agree in one thing, it would be or real young, or somewhere still to come, I have no idea when. :D 15 is good, but I know there can be better.

About that day/night thing, I really have no idea. There are just so many moments, so far. :D

dumbbrunette
dumbbrunette posted about 1 year ago

Understandable, your gonna have a great time in highschool! I love'd it, I mean I dont know if highschool over here is anything like highschool where you live but I had a grand expierance!

And the day/night one, now that I think about it there are so many to pick from but I'd probably stick with my first choice.

nano
nano posted about 1 year ago

I don't know either, anyway, I'm sure I'll have a great time anytime. :D

swissbob
swissbob posted about 1 year ago

For your pleasure here some last sentences:

"So we beat on, boats against the current, borne back ceaselessly into the past."

"After all, tomorrow is another day."

"Oh, my girls, however long you may live, I never can wish you a greater happiness than this!"

I hate reading the last page of a great book.

I ALWAYS want more.

And I onlye get disappointed....

Kittilyn

Is it okay if I post a small teensy-weensy spoiler ... AKA the last line of The Deathly Hallows, if I put a huge block of text around it and post an alert before-hand?  Just asking seeing as we're posting last lines ...

Fine by me if I can't.  I just finished the last book and NEED to talk about it!

Mister Boomy
Mister Boomy posted 11 months ago

For me it’s fine. I’m dying to discuss it to. Just be sure to write: SPOILERSPOILERSPOILERSPOILERSPOILERSPOILERSPOILER – , first. Good spoiler policy. I haven’t been on the net or seen tv in the period of the 21st of july to when i finished the book. I’m terrified of spoiler, i dream about them at night.;)
