Ranma Saotome (早乙女 乱馬, Saotome Ranma?) is the protagonist and title character in Rumiko Takahashi's anime and manga series Ranma ½. Ranma can mean "chaotic or "reckless horse" or a tangled thread. Saotome means "fast maiden".
