I’m not sure if this is true… But aren’t RADIOHEAD responsible for a gazillion surly and depressed teenagers (who grow up to be adults if they don’t kill themselves first) thinking that it’s a really, really, really good idea to stay surly and depressed for the rest of their lives, and, if, they don’t kill themselves end up entering the work force (or welfare) end up (trying) to make the lives of others people (who didn’t listen to RADIOHEAD in their adolescent years) horrible?
I’m not sure if it’s true… but… you know.
Well Ryan, like 5% yeah, and 95% no bloody way. I reckon Radiohead do and did capture the spirit of the times, and a lot of that is not very pretty. For me the key line comes from Paranoid Android
“Ambition makes you look pretty ugly. Kicking screaming Gucci little Piggy.” It may start out as depressing but it doesn’t end there… Perhaps you could make a case that Radiohead are responsible for a subculture of cunningly subversive youth who, in defying the status quo, aometimes rub people up the wrong way.
But anyway Radiohead are way more than that, and now you’ve convinced me to give ‘em a vote. By the way what makes your life more horrible, surly people or depressed people? :-) And i don’t know why were CAPITILISING THEIR NAME.
Mikey, I don’t think it’s possible to gracefully recover from my pretentious comment, so, I wont even try :)
But I will answer your question! I find depressed people cut more than surly people, because surly people activates my dinosaur brain; it’s pretty easy to just be angry with them for being surly. Depressed people either evoke pity, empathy and/or frustration to downright intollerance. :O
Behold, the graceful recovery!
Very cool. I love ‘em.
I HATE THEM !!!! MUSE ARE THE BEST BAND , THEY HAVE WON FOR THE BEST LIVE BAND IN 2004 , 2005 AND 2006 !!!!!
I am afraid to play Radiohead, I never want it to lose it’s effect.
Totally agree with The Best Band Tag….thoughtful, sensitive music by talented songwriters…not a “manufactured” band containing no-talent “Boys” with great voices and no brains. Willing to experiment ..admit they don’t ALWAYS pull it off with some of the more outlandish tracks…but they certainly dont rest on their laurels. Can’t wait for the next musical instalment!

They are, by and large, the best band to ever exist. Their catalog of songs consists of very few songs that are at worst mediocore. No other band on earth has shown their level of absolute genius and creativity at every single turn in their career. As they reinvent themselves their genius seems to shine even more. Their amazing expression of the human condition and emotions is, in my experience, absolutley unparallel. I hope that one day every one in this world will come to see Radiohead as the amazing entity that they are.
Obviously the best band ever. It goes without saying, but i’ll say it anyway because I love them and I have just been provoked to listen to them.
Also the best live band ever.
It’s obvious that they’re the best. o.k computer has been voted the best album ever , every year since it came out. an the bends(my personal fav) is like no. 20. they’re just so original, innovative, emotional and mind-bogglingly amazing.

I CAN ’T STAND thinking if radiohead did not exist!

You can’t hate them just because you believe someone else is better. I think there are better live bands too, but I don’t hate people who are worse
Sorry but Radioshit make me sleep…. I like heavy metal
Visc- there's no way you can possibly sleep to Radiohead. Creative, influential, inspiring and forever changing, they are far from dull and are true innovators- a look at bands today will tell you that. Incidentally, i'm pretty sure Radiohead have had a huge effect on the music and creativity of Muse.
I agree. I like heavy metal too, but Radiohead is just too amazing.
the music may seem to be depressing. but it really isn't. if you aren't a depressing person who takes everything on, then of course you will become depressed. the lyrics are so deep and thom york's voice sends shivers. great band!
we (unfortunately) only have kid a…amazing cd…i love everything in its right place…
They look and sound boring to me,radiohead, what a boring name
. . .
This coming from someone with the name sk8terpunkgirl.... No offense.
The new album is awesome, i'm really enjoying it. Vote for it!
The way I was brought up I was taught to appreciate everyone else's ideas and opinions, but in regards to Sk8erPunkGirl, sorry, you're just talking rubbish! If you don't like the band don't post here, simple as.
Love radiohead!!
I used to hate them and love Muse BUT.. now I think they are GREAT tooo!!
& I did shivered while listening to them , a bit creepy but nice XD
Thom, Jonny, Ed, Colin and Phil. Ugly british men with boring names always make the best music, it's a fact of life.
Radiohead are easily the best band ever to exist!
yeah love radiohead, they're my best band ever!!!
they got sum CHUNES:
fake plastic trees, street spririt, airbag, paranoid android, no suprises, optimistic, idioteque, pyramid song, you and whose army, i might be wrong, knives out, 2 + 2 = 5, where i end and you begin, there there, 15 step, nude, weird fishes, reckoner, house of cards
there has to be one song in that bundle of amazing which you will love
but yeh fantastic band
I like "Idioteque". :)
It seems like there are way too many teen “music experts” who dismiss Radiohead and say it’s boring, pretentious and not worth their time yet listen to absolutely everything else that tries so hard to be Radiohead.
Punk music lovers… give it time, you’ll outgrow your music taste. Sk8er girls and boyzz need to know that other genres and types of music exist outside of their taste spectrum which has as much depth as a tea spoon. You also need to realize that there are band names that don’t involve any overtly exaggerated and desperately “tragic” or “violent” themes you have decided are the only things worth chanting and banging your empty heads to.
If you can love Muse yet hate Radiohead, you’re a fool. If there isn’t Radiohead, there would never have been Muse in the first place. I myself am a huge fan of both and think that despite Radiohead being a huge influence on Muse, both have evolved into very different acts. Still… Origin of Symmetry and Showbiz sounds a lot like recordings of very talented Radiohead fans who know that they can’t call it their own music if they don’t think of Radiohead as an influence instead of something to rip off from.
If you like Coldplay and you’re putting down Radiohead then you’d be the biggest fool of them all.
To be completely honest. I think Radiohead are one of the best bands around, but I definatly wouldn't call them "rock". x
Radiohead arnt the type of band that do the same thing over and over (oasis) they change things from album to album. They do different typres of music electronic, Experiemntal, Rock, alternative and more. It might not always work but at least they are tying something different
