Quidditch is a fictional sport developed by J. K. Rowling, found in the internationally bestselling Harry Potter novels and films. It is described as an extremely rough but very popular semi-contact sport played by wizards and witches around the world. Matches are played between two teams of seven players riding flying broomsticks, using four balls and six elevated ring-shaped goals. The game features in every Harry Potter book bar the seventh, as the series' title character, Harry Potter, plays an important position for his house team at Hogwarts. Regional and international competitions are also mentioned in the books. In the Harry Potter universe, Quidditch holds a fervent following similar to football (soccer) as a globally popular sport.

About the players
There are seven players on a Quidditch team, plus some substitutes. The seven players are three chasers, two beaters, one seeker, and one keeper.

The Keeper
The position of the keeper is to try and stop the other team's chasers from scoring into the goal hoops. This position has existed since the thirteenth century, though the role has changed abit since then. In 1620 the keeper's job changed, before the keeper itself could move all around the field and score goals, just like the chasers. However since 1620 the scoring areas have been added to the pitch and the keeper's were advised to remain in them.

The Beaters
The beater's job is to gaurd their team members from the bludgers, which they do with the aid of bats. Beaters are not allowed to score goals. Beaters need to be in good physical strenght to repel the nasty bludgers. Beaters also have to have an excellent sense of balance, so it is neccessary for them to take both hands off their brooms for a double-handed assult on a bludger.

The Chasers
The chasers throw the quaffle at each other and try and score in the other team's goal hoops, and they recieve ten points in doing so. A new rule was introduced in 1884 that only the chaser with the quaffle cpi;d enter the scoring area.

The Seeker
The seeker is usally the lightest and fastest flier, they need a sharp eye and the ability to fly one handed or no handed. The seeker is to catch the snitch which ends the game and earns the team that catches it one hundred points
