Kids play. Water Pumps!

PlayPumps International raises money to provide PlayPump™ water systems to rural children and communities in Africa. When the merry-go-round spins, it pumps uncontaminated drinking water from deep below the ground into a secure and clean 2,500-liter water tank. A simple tap provides easy access for women and children drawing water.

PlayPumps International will install 4,000 pumps to help bring the benefits of clean drinking water to 10 million people in 10 countries by 2010, enabling improvements in health, education, gender equality and economic development. They have 900 pumps in the ground so far. Rap star Jay-Z and tennis star Nicole Vaidisova are among their supporters.

I saw it first on MTV , on Diary of Jay Z. He bought one and i thought that was really amazing. children play and help to give themselves some that is so important in their lives. We dont even imagine the GOOD that it brings!! We wait more good ideas like this to help changing the world!! I’m happy to see that are people who really help to MAKE POVERTY HISTORY ! =)

I am UK born but spent almost 4 years in the South African townships after being stranded there.

I lived with the homeless and destitute and had to travel 2 miles a day for my daily water supply simply to stay clean and stay alive, but it unfortunately didn't prevent me contracting Tuberculosis and going deaf in both ears through infection.

I've lived amongst these people who simply want an opportunity to have a safe, clean environment for themselves and their children to give themselves the best possible opportunity to get out of the poverty trap.

I really appreciate this innovative creation which is nothing short of genius and now that I'm back home I will endeavour to promote this project in every way I can.
