salle posted about 1 year ago: for this quote to make sense, one must re-define the terms. as it is, the words “pain” and “suffering” are synonyms according to the dictionary and most speakers of the english language.

kath_mandu posted about 1 year ago: Salle, in a way, I agree with you. I guess, to my mind at least, I reconciled the quote to mean something like: bad things happen in life that hurt you, but you don't have to choose to focus on them to the exclusion of everything else (as in, you don't have to choose to suffer, even though you're hurting). Does that make sense? LOL! Anyway, that's just how I'm choosing to look at it.
