Ozy and Millie is a webcomic created by artist and musician D.C. Simpson which revolves around around the day-to-day lives of a pair of anthropomorphic fox children, Millie - a tomboyish, outspoken young vixen with a genuine love for life; Ozy - a quiet, top-hat-wearing arctic fox who often acts as a zen ying to Millie's yang. Accompanying them are Ozy's eccentric adoptive father, Llewellyn - a gentlemanly dragon who has run for U.S. president no less than three times in the strip's history; Ms. Mudd, Millie's long, long-suffering mother; Avery, a raccoon obsessed with being 'cool' and in with media-tauted trends and his little brother, the innocent Timulty; Felicia, the local school's 'It Girl' (who, intentionally, is a sheep) and Jeremy, the school bully, amongst several others. Ozy and Millie is consistently a philosophical, satirical slice of suburban America, often reflecting the liberal views of its creator and his thoughts upon current world affairs and how his characters would react to them. Inspired greatly by the work of Bill Watterson ('Calvin and Hobbes'), Simpson has been running the hugely popular strip on a weekday basis since the late 1990s, and has recently won an award for 'Best Anthropomorphic Comic 2006'.
As well as publishing the strips on the web, Simpson has also released Ozy and Millie in book formats available from the self-publishing website lulu.com.
Simpson has recently announced that the comic will come to an end in 2008, after ten years of almost-daily strips - stating that the strip has helped him learn his craft in being a cartoonist, and that he will most certainly return to the characters sporadically to explore their lives perhaps years in the future from when it is currently set.
