Yes..Night Of The Living Dead came first I believe. Then Dawn Of The Dead,Shaun Of The Dead,Land Of The Dead, and everything else that ends with “of the dead”
I thought there was more going on in this movie than just scary storytelling the first time I saw it; I couldn’t quite put my finger on it. Of course, the fact that the hero is black is a big sign and then there is the matter of his surviving to the end of the movie. The movie is described by wikipedia as “so thoroughly laden with critiques of late-1960s American society that one historian described the film as “subversive on many levels.”[5] Yes, “subversive” is the word I was looking for.

Didn’t this movie help start the whole “zombie” horror francize?
A spellcheck edit: Did NIGHT OF THE LIVING DEAD start the whole “zombie” horror movie phase?
