Neon Genesis Evangelion (新世紀エヴァンゲリオン, Shin Seiki Evangelion?) is a popular Japanese anime that began in 1995. The anime was written and directed by Hideaki Anno, and produced by Gainax. It is a post-apocalyptic mecha action series, and references a number of Judeo-Christian symbols from the book of Genesis and biblical apocrypha. Later episodes shift focus to psychoanalysis of the main characters, who display various emotional problems and mental illnesses. Hideaki Anno, the director of the anime series, had suffered from depression prior to creating the series, and the psychological aspects of the show are based on the director’s own experiences in dealing with depression and psychotherapy.

it is fukin awesome but very confuzzzling but the awesomeness overcomes that
ep. 26 actually makes some sense if you watch it slowly and follow the thought process.

master piece, more than anime
agreed- a complete masterpiece! i've been searching and hoping for over 10 years now since completing it the first time to find a series that can beat it (or atleast match it) and still haven't.
Evangelion is an epic anime. I mean, probably the best ever.
I most say that I’m a fan of Evangelion, since the first time I saw it on an anime convention, then when I got the channel locomotion I was so happy because I could watch the entire serie twice. Here in Mexico, this anime is considered as a great hit, especially for all the apocalypsis stuff that is described there and the characters design.
Do you all agree that the ending was the worst part of this serie? The movie was great, with all the end of the world trama, Rei’s concern for Shinji, the multiple Reis that appeared, the background about Shinji’s mother and the psychological trauma that Azuka had for her mother’s suicide. What do you think is the best part of this anime? Who is the best character?
Finally, I just have one word to describe Evangelion: Amazing
Ending of series is awesome, it takes time to understand it.
