My Chemical Romance is an american band, formed and based in New Jersey, USA. The band was formed by leadsinger Gerard Way, and former drummer Matt Pelliser. Ray Toro joined the band when Gerard realized he couldn't play guitar and sing at the same time. Mikey Way joined the band after listening to the Skylines And Turnstiles (about Gerard's feelings about 9/11) demo, and liking it a lot. Frank Iero joined the band after MCR realized they needed a rhythm guitarist to fill in their sound, and after the band Pencey Prep (in which Frank sang lead vocals) broke up. I am sorry to break it to you but an emo band shouldnt even be close to even nirvana on this list. who ever added this band to this list should be dragged out into the street and shot in the head.

MCR is a great band.. And they're not emo.. They were never emo.
Like each band they have their pros and cons
MCR may be a whiny band sometimes
but when you look closer, their lyrics have meaning. They formed not to be some poser band but to express their feelings about the 9/11 tradgedy.
Gerard way the lead singer is a very deep person and all his songs have meaning and purpose, eg. he wrote the song Helena dedciated to his late grandmother.
ugh, i used to like them but they are so frigging annoying and they sound awful.
ok, i'll admit i like their song heaven help us, but they're certainly not a "consistent show of genius".

1. I hate labels. Emo is a catch-all phrase now, apparently. I am a unique, vibrant, human being and I do not need a single word to describe who or what I am.
2. MCR says they don't like to be called emo and they are not.
3. MCR has a lot of things they'd like to say and a lot of wonderful things that they have already said. I believe they're here to help, not harm. They have a message, and they want everybody to hear it
4. For those who say they're awful, again, there's no point in your being here.
5. They are creative, they enjoy expressing themselves. They may do that anyway they so wish, and they don't need you telling them it's wrong.
6. Appearances are not everything. MCR are so much more than meets the eye, if only you'd look closer. They don't like it when you say how 'hot' they are. It freaks them out.
7. Before any of it starts: nobody in the band is gay, as far as any of us know. The 'thing' going on with Frank & Gerard, does not mean anything as far as we know. We don't know anything. Gerard consistently avoids answering that question, and when he does answer, it still doesn't make any sense. That would be amazing, but it seems they're just really good friends that enjoy doing inappropriate things onstage, unless they prove us otherwise. Keep on believing it, or w/e.
8. Their whole aesthetic and lyrics are amazing. If you'd compare it to some of the crap out there that's destroying my generation, this is some of the best shit to ever fall upon your ears. I don't listen to Hawthorne Heights or Alesana, or even Sunny Day Real Estate or Rites of Spring. I like older stuff, too. Not AC/DC and Guns N Roses, mind you. Stuff like Black Flag, The Pixies, The Cure, Stone Temple Pilots, etc. That is my music.
10. They are not for everybody. They might want everybody to hear, but they certainly don't like everybody liking them. They want a challenge, they like to win people over. They like to fight. They're winning though, so with this next record they'll probably piss us all off. :D I love these guys.

My Chemical Romance is the $#it. their lyricks are awsome and they engourage people to get up and speak for themselves. when i first heard their music ,which the song WAS "welcome to the black pared" iwas like"man this people understand me". another song that made me feel like this was "the end"
