This notorious paradox arises when people or objects travel back in time and alter the past, i.e. – you hop in a time machine, travel back to when your mother was a child, and kill her. If you do that, then you could never have been born. If you were never born, then you never could have travelled back in time to kill your mother. Yup. The Mother of All Paradoxes.

Also known as the “grandfather paradox”. :)
Or any other family member you might care to substitute!
Unless of course, like Philip J. Fry, you kill your grandfather but still live only to later find out you are actually your own grandfather.
Hmmmmm….
Erm... who's Philip J. Fry?
