Nice to have:

name: TBD. User Story: I have an item I like best. I have already identified that item. The category contains other items that I want to recognize. But I want to distinguish them from the ones I like best. These items may be a 2nd tier but they still hold some value to me. Current Situation: as an example, if I go to “The Best Director” category I see multiple directors I like, but they aren’t all on the same level. Quentin Tarantino is really good, but Akira Kurosawa is legend status. So I want to rate Akira “The Best Stuff” and Quentin TBD .

Member lists – ordered lists – would be great. It’s what you’re saying, but maybe a bit extended…maybe a “list your top 3” (or top 5) in each category.

Currently I just list them all as “best”.

Like you could have a conversaion and say “Kurosawa is the best!” “and so is Lynch!” thus nest is not exclusive to me.

^ I realize most people on this site operate like the above poster, but part of what drew me in to this site is the ridiculous fun of thinking quantitatively about things generally left unquantified, and making impossible judgement calls like whether puppies are better than literacy. I’d love a system that allowed a second option, for those of us who want to interpret “best” literally.

What do you think? (It’s good!) (It’s great!) (It’s the best!)

That would be great! Firstable because sometimes it doesn’t make anysense to consider certain sorts of things as the best (e.g. I like Guga, he is probably my favourite tennis player but I know he is not “The Best Tennis Player”/ I like Rioja but I do not say it is “The Best Wine” because it depends on the meal I eat) and last but not least to rank the things we love.

I take “It’s the Best” literally. That’s why, I would appreciate to have others options like “It’s Great” and “It’s Good” because I don’t want to label all the things I love as the best.

The system is not exclusive, it still allows more than one best item in each category (tied / ex aequo) but is more accurate.
