Yeah, but what's the point if by the time that's possible, there's no one left to enjoy but the rich? Between people who are starving all over the world and having some people land on the moon, I'd rather they feed the people first, then work towards space. (Or at least spend more money on things that are about our well being. No offense)
I think most people would agree with that... but again, you can't get astrophysicsts to suddenly change their profession, give up all their money, etc. Additionally, I still think the government would be greedy and keep all that extra money. Have you seen our military budget lately? We're not really in the business of giving.
On the flip side, I think those Virgin Mobile $1 million-a-ride space ships are a bit silly.
One more thing :D Space travel isn't really all about exploration and hunting down aliens. They do a ton of other things out there...which are actually really relevant to things here on Earth.

I definitely think it’s possible that we did not go there.
I think we went there, but come on, stop spending billions of dollars on this crap when people are starving on OUR planet.
I think it is very possible that the first moon landing was a fake, but I think it's probable that we've been there since.
@ chevy - I disagree! There is no way to know if the minds/money/time involved in space travel would go towards the less fortunate here on earth.
