best damn stuff out there..along with maiden of course..i was introduced to metallica back in school by a friend..from then on ive been hooked..the best part bout them is that u cn listen to thier songs foreva w/o ever gettin tired of it.. to name a few.. unforgiven ,mama said,low mans lyric,die my darlin…check em out..

Used to be great. But they started sucking after the Black album.

I saw them yesterday \m/ first stop of the "Sick of the Studio" tour! Lisbon 07! It was awesome, no words can describe it!

R.I.P. Cliff, I can only hope your former band can recapture the spirit of the first four albums. Once the greatest band in the world…... and hopefully once again.

Metallica is definately overrated

I used to listen to them thinking they were the best musicians; boy was I wrong

They brought thrash heavy metal to the genre that was basically glamor rock, I'll give em that, but if you want to listen to some GOOD music listen to Children of Bodom

But I have to admit, the interlude of Master of Puppets (slow solo) is simply amazing, great musical talent to write that

Metallica is way better than Iron Maiden. If you look at Maidens "best" and Metallica's "best", then you're comparing Master of Puppets to Number of the Beast. I think we know who wins there.

Metallica is overrated trash and did absalutely nothing for thrash except make it look mild. Bands like Kreator, Sarcofago, and Sabbat were much better than the pussy metal that is Metallica. At least metallica is bettr than most of that stupid shit we got today like slipknot, and cradle of filth.

Erm, Metallica were a tribute album to Iron Maiden, surely that proves who are the real metal gods. If anyone here were to go to a Metallica concert then a Maiden concert they would see the light…UP THE IRONS!!!!!!

If you think Metallica is better than Iron Maiden you don't know shit about music. Maiden pioneered metal. They influenced all the bands after them, especially Metallica. You can hear Maiden influences in Metallica's music. Also, as a guitarist and a fan of both bands(although I think Metallica isn't even in the same league as Maiden) it is obvious that the members of Iron Maiden have a million times more talent and technical ability. Steve Harris is agruably the greatest bassist of all time, just listen to ,"the trooper", "powerslave", "hallowed be thy name", etc. Kirk Hammett is ok but would get schooled any day by Dave Murray or Adrian Smith. As far as lyrics, Metallica just recycled the style that Maiden created. Thats obvious. Another thing, Maiden has been pretty consistant throughout their career and they still rock. Metallica has sucked since the black album. You jackassess who think Metallica is better should learn how to play a fuckin instrument so you can appreciate real musicianship.

Metallica is a very good band. But WHOEVER SAYS THAT METALLICA IS BETTER THAN A BAND LIKE JUDAS PRIEST OR IRON MAIDEN IS A COMPLETE FUCKING IDIOT.

Let's compare Iron Maiden to Metallica and see if idiotic Metallica fanboys can listen to someone intellegent for once.

GUITARISTS:

-Metallica: James Hetfield and Kirk Hammett are great musicians.

-Iron Maiden: Dave Murray, Adrian Smith, and Janick Gers are better musicians and song writters, primarily because they have been playing longer and have more skill.

VOCALS:

-Metallica: James Hetfield is not a singer. His vocals are basicly controlled yelling. Although singing and playing guitar at the same time are quite difficult, I give him credit for that. But Kai Hansen from Gamma Ray can sing and play guitar at the same time a lot better.

-Iron Maiden: Bruce Dickinson wins by a landslide. He has an incredible range, can sing in different volumes and styles, and has also been trained in operatic singing.

BASS:

-Metallica: Cliff Burton, Jason Newsted, and Robert Trujillo are also great bassists. No question that Cliff Burton was insane and that he will always be remembered.

-Iron Maiden: Steve Harris is and has been the bands bassist AND band creater since 1975. He is among one of the best bassists in heavy metal history. He does infact have more skill than Cliff Burton and has incredible song writting capability and imagination.

PERCUSSION:

-Metallica: Lars Ulrich is an excellent drummer and founding member. No doubt that he has kept Metallica fans still supporting the band even though they have sold out. The older albums show his true musicianship which is a thrill to listen to.

-Iron Maiden: Nicko McBrain is also an excellent drummer. I don't have much to say here but Lars Ulrich in my opinion was a better drummer in Metallica's golden ages but is losing his touch. Nicko has been strong ever since he joined Iron Maiden in 1982. A tie between the two.

 As for their influences, Metallica has a much larger influence within North America than Iron Maiden does, but Iron Maiden has a much wider, world wide influence. Both band fanboys have annoying traits such as Iron Maiden's fans' saying, "Up the Irons," which is incredibly annoying. Metallica fans' blind fanboyism is also incredibly annoying claiming that they're the best when they clearly aren't.

After what is said and done, Iron Maiden IS infact a more technical, skillful, and "better" band than Metallica. Why blind fans continue to overrate Metallica is unknown but the facts are out there and they will continue to act like idiots.

But what's really important is that both have some of the greatest metal achievements in history and have created huge influences and it doesn't really matter who is better because both FUCKING ROCK!

Metallica is the best! Especially their early thrash stuff. The lyrics of their songs are just so amazing! Like Dyers Eve is just one of their best lyrical songs! Hammet's riffs are legendary and Cliff, may he rest in peace, is an amazing bassist and song writer

I like Maiden, but love Metallica!  I was at Download 2003 when Metallica turned up on a second stage.  Left the Iron maiden stage with loads of other people to watch Metallica.

Metallica may not be as individually technical as other top bands but together they have something that I have never seen in any other band!

Wow guys…I am from India, I have heard both Maiden and 'tallica…I don know what someone means by saying that 'tallica aint as good as Maiden…they are so fucking awesome…Metallica for me is everything…I came into the world of thrash for about 3 years now…and my life is so heavily influenced by Metallica, their songs are legendary…Fade to black, Enter Sandman, One…they are AWESOME…and Irom Maiden is great too, I like fear of the dark, Afraid to shoot strangers, Blood Brothers…and can play them as well….if you think of music, both of these bands are quite amazing and the feat they have achieved are exceptional…I say we take them together as two greats and savour the feast that they offer…Hats off to them both…
