I don’t see why everyone (all 9 of you) has to be against mediocrity. As they say, it takes a lot less time and most people won’t notice the difference until its too late anyway.

I’ve taken the liberty of uploading a new image to share my feelings. Enjoy.

“Let us not underestimate the privileges of the mediocre. As one climbs higher, life becomes ever harder; the coldness increases, responsibility increases.”

I enjoy mediocrity. There's not a lot of pressure that comes with it.

Why would you have pressure otherwise?

Anything less than mediocrity is a struggle, and anything more is responsibility and unwanted attention.

Are you talking about being famous or in the media's eye when you say that?

Either one will do.

So, you saying that if your life is more than mediocre, then it's automatically fame or within the media's eye?

Hideous Monster

No, I'm saying fame and media attention both qualify as unwanted attention, in my opinion, and do not qualify as mediocrity.

So, you agree that you can have an unmediocre life without being famous and in the media, right?

Sure.

So wouldn't that mean that if your life is more than mediocre it's not necessarily a life of pressure?

Hideous Monster

Only if fame were the only form of pressure.

So, then if your life is more than mediocre, then it is automatically filled with more pressure?

More than I want, yes.

How so? I mean, something such as this definitely has exceptions.

Nevermind, I think it really just depends on your definition of what's mediocre and what's more than mediocre.

Maybe it does, or maybe I would consider such hypothetical exceptions mediocre, while the rest of the world would consider them extraordinary. It really is all a matter of opinion, but it my mind, I would be as happy without extra excitement as I would be with it. And thus, neither running from mediocrity nor actively seeking its opposite has any motivation behind it.

Well, it's pretty great you can be happy with mediocre, a loottt of people always dream of more excitement.

I understand. I tend to put everything in a very wide-scale, outside perspective. I don't consider myself anymore worthy of greatness and excitement than any other life form.  I'm happy enough to exist. Most people see themselves as creatures inserted into the world, and given the chance to observe and play with this world. I see myself as though I were a part of the world itself, as though the universe grew some eyes so that it could view itself from within, through me and everyone else. I don't mind showing the universe itself from a calm and accepting perspective.  Either way I'm doing my job as a sensory organ.
