South American drink, most popular in Argentina, Uruguay and Paraguay. Basically consists of hot water (not boiled) poured inside a “porongo” half-filled with “yerba mate”. A “bombilla” (which is used to drink the flavoured water by sucking through it) is inserted into the “yerba”. And that’s all! Drink this wonderful beverage till the stomach says enough! Note: It’s really important to moisten the “yerba” before inserting the “bombilla”, don’t forget it or you’ll get the horrible experiences of “comer yerba” and “mate tapado”! Note 2: IT IS NOT A DRUG , unless you think TEA is a drug.
