I like it when people think i am funny… usually they laugh at me when i am not trying to make them laugh… usually when i am trying to be serious. i am told that is why i am funny though. i say "funny" things in a "serious" tone

Well, 'CH' counts as a digraph (two letters together forming another sound, like 'PH' or 'TH' in English), so it's not quite the same thing...

The explanation lies in the ways languages change over the years. If you say a 'P' you will find that it is formed with your lips and a breath of air. An 'F'' is similarly formed. So is 'V', but you vibrate your vocal folds (cords) to make the sound different. This is why the Modern Greek letter beta (where in your mouth do you form a 'B'?) is actually pronounced veta.

The 'GH' digraph is derived from the Germanic 'CH' sound in most (?) cases; the ways English has changed enormously over the past thousand years or so mean that it can be pronounced in all number of ways. Including not being pronounced at all.

And the 'K' and 'S' sounds of the letter 'C' are thought to be linked; our group of related languages is (often) divided into the Kentum and Satem sub-groups, depending on whether the letter C has one sound or the other (putting it simply). But this has recently become less clear-cut than was previously supposed.

I always end up making my friends laugh. I'll say things that end up sounding really strange or awkward because sometimes I can't think of the right words to use.
Or one time I was discussing Chinese zodiak signs at work and my friend went into a different room and so she could still hear me I said in a louder voice "My mom's a rabbit!" but my friend forgot what we were talking about and she thought it sounded funny that I have a rabbit for a mom.

If you have a full copy of The Lord of the Rings, consult Appendix E on Elvish writing and language in general. This sort of thing was Tolkien's university day job (it's called philology) and so he's very good at it.

After what I said before, it might make some sense that a Balrog in the Lord of the Rings is also called a Valarauko in the Silmarillion... while that's unlikely to make anyone laugh, it might make someone smile.
