Lost and Delirious

“Lost and Delirious” is a brilliant drama directed by Léa Pool. Mary “Mouse” Bradford (Mischa Barton) is a shy, naive, freshman who has just been sent off to a fancy girls boarding school by her father and her new step-mother. Mouse quickly becomes friends with her two senior roomates, the overachieving Tori Moller (Jessica Paré), and the voracious poetry reading, Shakespeare loving, unapologetic, Paulie Oster (Piper Perabo). As Mouse tries to adjust to her new suroundings, with some guidance from the gardener Joe Menzies (Graham Greene), she soon becomes privy to the secret that Paulie and Tori are lovers. All is fine until one day when Tori’s little sister, Allison bursts into the room that Mouse, Tori, and Paulie share and she finds Tori and Paulie in bed together naked. Worried that her sister will run off and tell her very conservative parents, Tori breaks off her relationship with Paulie to be with one of the guys from the boys boarding school nearby. However, Paulie is not ready to give Tori up, so she fights for her love.

I think this is probably one of the best quotes in the entire film: “Liar! Liar, Liar, Liar! You’ve all got your heads up your assholes because love is. It just is and nothing you can say can make it go away because it is the point of why we are here, it is the highest point and once you are up there, looking down on everyone else, you’re there forever. Because if you move, right, you fall. You fall. ” – Paulie
