I think that if more people would realize that life can be even more beautiful and fabulous, healthy and long if they lived a less violent and more peaceful existence, they would embrace such a lifestyle this minute, not tomorrow! :)

yes, most of us should live a peaceful life. but some of us need to protect the rest of us. security guards, policemen, and soldiers are the strongest and bravest of us; and we should strive to remember to always be grateful to them.
well said. but i think they are only needed because violence, dominance and inequality seem to be very strongly ingrained ideals in human society, and security guards, police and soldiers the most rational and easy answer. it would be unbelievably hard to get rid of those ideals to the point where we can lay down weapons forever. i’m not saying i don’t think it’s not possible, but it would take a lot of diplomacy, education, conditioning, learning to truly share resources… and maybe even, ironically, another world war to make people truly sick of war itself, a war to end all wars… :? almost doesn't bear thinking about though... i'd like to choose peace over war to change peoples' minds anyday :)
