I was rummaging through the cds at the librairy, and came across The Essential Leonard Cohen. Got into the first 12 songs, through the 60's and 70's. Then I came to Hallelujah. I was excited because I only knew of Jeff Buckley's version. Then as the excitement wore down, I began to realize that it sounded like a karaoke performance. Yes, now we were in the synth-80's. He continues the synth up to the current slowly putting out shittier lyrics, writing with more people, and sounding more like "Tom Jones- Live At The China King Lounge!" Bleh. He WAS a beautiful writer.
