Leo Buscaglia left this world on June 12, 1998 but his spirit lives on in the words he spoke, the hugs he gave, the inspiration he spread. No smooth talking, psycho-babble from Leo, just straight up, smack you across the head reality – given with broad gestures, radiant smile and a hug that enveloped you so you never wanted to leave its embrace. Seriously, ask anyone who has been hugged by Leo. Sharing his insight and thoughts with others has forever changed many lives – here is a sample of his thoughts:
I have a very strong feeling that the opposite of love is not hate – it’s apathy. It’s not giving a damn.
I still get wildly enthusiastic about little things… I play with leaves. I skip down the street and run against the wind.
Change is the end result of all true learning.
Don’t brood. Get on with living and loving. You don’t have forever.
If I don’t have wisdom, I can teach you only ignorance.
The easiest thing to be in the world is you. The most difficult thing to be is what other people want you to be. Don’t let them put you in that position.
It is paradoxical that many educators and parents still differentiate between a time for learning and a time for play without seeing the vital connection between them
Leo’s books are still widely available. More about Leo at www.buscaglia.com
